Construction Updates


San Francisco Day School is embarking on a long-intentioned promise to our community and for our students—to update, expand, and improve our facilities to match the exceptional educational program at SF Day. This webpage is your resource for all things project-related, and we look forward to keeping you informed as construction is underway.

Here is the upcoming work for the next two weeks:

Week of 11/16:  Noise levels expected to be low/moderate for the majority of the week with low traffic with the exception of the slab-on-grade pour on 11/20.

  • Slab on Grade Rebar Installation – low/moderate noise
  • Slab on Grade Formwork – moderate noise
  • Plumbing, Electrical, and Fire Sprinkler Rough-in – low noise
  • Exterior Sheathing Removal – moderate noise
  • Interior Wood Framing – moderate noise
  • Select Interior Drywall Demo – low/moderate noise
  • Slab-on-Grade Pour – moderate/high noise, large vehicle traffic, extended work hours. This notice was shared with immediate neighbors in advance. 
    • 6a – Concrete Pump Arrives: Herrero will begin taking down the fence panels and the pump will begin setup
    • 7a – First Concrete Truck Arrives
    • 7a - 3p – Concrete Pumping: Trucks will be on a 15-minute schedule (4 per hour) with two trucks unloading into the pump at a time.  We expect somewhere between 25-30 total trucks.
    • 3p 4p – Concrete Pump Cleanout
    • 3p-8p – Concrete Finishing: Work during these hours will be quiet with very little noise other than workers speaking to each other
    • 8p – Estimated Completion

Week of 11/23:  Noise levels expected to be low for the majority of the week with low traffic.

  • Below Grade Waterproofing Installation – low noise
  • Surveying and Layout – low noise
  • Basement Wall Formwork – moderate noise
  • Plumbing, Electrical, and Fire Sprinkler Rough-in – low noise
  • Exterior Sheathing Installation – low/moderate noise
  • Interior Wood Framing – moderate noise
  • No work on 11/26 & 11/27
