Applying to Kindergarten

Thank you for your interest in San Francisco Day School! You are invited to begin the admission process for SF Day by choosing to explore, inquire, or apply to our school.

Explore will enable you to learn more about our school before applying.  You can view and register for upcoming admission events, as well as view the admission process details. You may choose to apply at any point during your process.

Inquire will enable our school to better understand your family's interests. 

Apply will enable you to view, register for events, and access required forms for the application process.

Admission Virtual Office Hours with the Admissions Team: September and October (Optional)
Connect with the Admission Team: Office Hours will be available for informal check-ins to answer any questions you may have about the process. 

Intellect + Imagination Virtual Informational Events (Recommended)
SF Day has designed these virtual informational events for families to learn about San Francisco Day School and how our school intentionally creates experiences that bridge intellect + imagination.

In-Person Open House (Recommended)
SF Day will offer an in-person Open House; a wonderful opportunity to meet the administrative team and hear from our teachers about their best-practices led approach to teaching and learning at SF Day.

In-Person Windows & Mirrors Reception (Optional)
Join us at this virtual event to learn how SF Day embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion to ensure all voices are heard in our community.

Discounted Tuition Virtual Informational Session (Optional)
SF Day is committed to ensuring our program remains accessible to families from a broad range of economic circumstances - nearly 1 in 4 students participates in our tuition assistance program. This meeting provides more information about the process and what the program entails. 

Virtual Community Spotlight (Optional)
In this series of virtual gatherings, SF Day community members will discuss various topics and share their perspectives, which will help you understand how the role of community inspires and empowers our individual and collective growth. These webinars will be recorded for those unable to attend; details and dates will be shared throughout the season. 

SF Day Tour of the Facilities (Optional) 
In-person tours at SF Day are back! Once you are ready to engage further, after attending one of our Intellect and Imagination events or Open House, whichever comes first, you are given access to sign up for an in-person tour of the school. Only one time sign up is permitted per family, however, up to two adults can come on the scheduled tour.

 

All applications, including form submissions, may be completed online using Ravenna - you may start the form and return to it at any time.  Your application will not be received by our admission team until you press the "Submit" button. 

Completing your application early will give you optimum flexibility in scheduling your Parent/Guardian Meeting before the deadline rush. Your application is due three days before your Parent/Guardian Meeting. Please submit the completed application along with the application fee ($100*) and a recent family photo as soon as you are ready, and no later than the due date listed on Ravenna.

Once you begin your application, we strongly encourage you to sign up for your virtual Parent/Guardian Meeting with the director of admission. Your application is due three business days before your scheduled Parent/Guardian Meeting. If you are applying for more than one child, a separate application must be completed for each child. Please schedule two meetings for twin students.

All parents/guardians of prospective kindergarten students meet with the director of admission. These meetings last 20 minutes and provide us with the opportunity to interact personally with each prospective family. Meetings will be conducted from October through mid-February.

Getting to know each of our wonderful kindergarten applicants is an invaluable part of this process, and we have designed meaningful ways to know each applicant student. We will be requesting materials to help us understand and know more about your child. You can expect communication from the admission office regarding the details later in the season. We look forward to learning more about your child!

• Schedule a virtual Parent/Guardian Meeting on Ravenna. Applications must be submitted three days prior to your scheduled meeting. We recommend scheduling your meeting as early as possible. (required)
• Submit requested materials on Ravenna to help us get to know your child (required).
• Delegate the Independent Schools of San Francisco Bay Area (ISSFBA) Confidential Common Evaluation Form* to your child's teachers on Ravenna. (required)
• Complete online Application on Ravenna with family photo as soon as you are ready (required). All required forms and documents can be found on your Ravenna hub online account.
