Innovation & Technology
Welcome to SF Day's Innovation & Technology Program!
At SF Day, innovation and technology are integrated into the curriculum as part of our commitment to helping the students of today become the creative problem solvers of tomorrow. Our teachers innovate with classroom activities and projects that engage students in their own learning and deepen understanding.
Each SF Day student receives an iPad as part of the integrated technology curriculum. 6th-8th use their iPads at school and at home as flexible tools to demonstrate their learning and organize their thoughts. Tech is used at SF Day in many developmentally appropriate and curricularly intentional ways. We have iPads, laptops, robots and many ways to code, tinker, and build.
Our dedicated teachers are at the heart of our technology efforts. They partner with our technology team to design learning activities that stimulate problem solving and nurture creativity. We work closely with our engaged and supportive parents/guardians to foster positive, safe, and age-appropriate use of technology.
Lower School students have weekly Innovation & Technology classes. Middle School students have weekly Computer Science & Engineering classes, along with an Innovation, Design, & Passion class. All students meet for classes in the Innovation Lab and Robotics Lab. These rooms are full of innovative tools that spark creativity and encourage students to try something new.
It is thrilling to see the ideas and projects that emerge from our student body! Our entire technology team is available to answer questions.
Our Curriculum
Innovation & Technology at SF Day empowers students with the essential skills, practical experiences, and adaptive mindset necessary for tackling challenges in an unpredictable future. Through an interactive and iterative approach to robotics, coding, and digital ethics, we encourage our students to cultivate the confidence needed to explore innovative solutions that contribute to the betterment of society.
A Comprehensive Curriculum
Our dynamic curriculum at SF Day integrates hands-on labs where students showcase computational proficiency, design thinking capabilities, and foundational computer science principles. This immersive educational approach nurtures students into adept media literates and tech-savvy digital citizens.
Promoting Media Literacy
Empowering students with the critical skills to navigate today's digital landscape is imperative. Through guidance and structured activities, students learn to analyze, create, and interact with media content responsibly, fostering a heightened awareness of digital influences and ethical considerations.
Culture of Innovation
Within our Innovation Lab, students are encouraged to approach real-world issues by fostering a culture of experimentation, learning from setbacks, and embracing a continuous cycle of improvement. Through this iterative process of experimentation, failure, reflection, and design, students deepen their confidence and openness to try new things.

Digital Dolphins
The Digital Dolphins is our afterschool competitive robotics team. The students are split into teams of 6-10 students and compete in the First Lego League. Each fall, the students practice twice a week from August to November and work on robot design and programming, project work, and core values.
