Institutional Impact & High School Counseling

Office of Institutional Impact
The office of Institutional Impact is the school’s external-facing function responsible for articulating how SF Day delivers on its mission. The office translates SF Day’s mission and academic excellence into storytelling, weaving a narrative inspired by the day-to-day lives of our students, faculty, and alumni that elevates the school's esteem and leaves an indelible impression of the benefits of an SF Day experience.
Impact makes visible who our graduates become and how they contribute beyond the school community. We work to share that contribution through strategic partnerships, public programming, and longitudinal reporting that demonstrate the school’s relevance and reach, highlighting our graduates' life trajectories, beginning with high school placement. We showcase the ways in which our students model intellectual curiosity, civic engagement, and ethical leadership, and we tell the stories of our incredible alumni who exemplify the school’s mission.
High School Counseling
A culminating part of the SF Day experience, the high school counseling program is intentional, student-centered, and nurturing. Beginning in 7th grade, families work closely with the Director of High School Counseling to navigate the process of finding the next best-fit school.
Through dedicated weekly classes for students, multiple individual meetings, and high-touch communication, 8th graders and their families actively engage in self-reflection to assess their high school options. With a high degree of support from the Director of High School Counseling, families are guided through all aspects of the high school admissions process: research, time management, school visits, interview preparation, essay writing, and application submission.
Over the course of their 8th grade year, students apply the skills they’ve developed to expand their perspectives and become their true selves. To that end, the high school counseling program emphasizes the excitement of self-discovery, the pride derived from deep self-awareness, and the joy of their final year at SF Day.
SF Day graduates are known to be compassionate, creative problem-solvers, and prepared to thrive in an ever-changing world.
