Welcome from the Head of School
I'm so glad you're here!
San Francisco Day School is so many things: a place to be challenged, inspired, cared for, heard and understood. It’s a place for fun, laughter and friendship; a place for serious conversations and intellectual discovery; a place for sharing your story and embracing the stories of others.
For over 40 years, our school has led the way in K-8, co-educational student-centered education in the heart of the city. SF Day’s intentional K-8 curriculum, embodied in our passionate and skilled faculty, sparks excitement and curiosity, encourages intellectual risk-taking and innovative perspectives, and celebrates the confidence to embrace challenge. Our committed, collaborative, and community-oriented faculty meet our students where they are, honor their individual approaches, and encourages them to be the best versions of themselves.
We are so fortunate to be located in the city of San Francisco. Since our inception, it has been part of the mission that SF Day gives students a springboard to embrace the world around them with confidence and integrity, share their perspectives and learn from others’, and engage at school and in our city as dynamic problem solvers. Our commitment to community, culture, and engagement is fundamental to who we are as learners and as humans.
When I meet our alumni, I am struck by the confidence they have in their own voices -- and also the kindness and respect they show others. SF Day unites our students with foundational, common values, and sees them for who they are. Our community nurtures kind, respectful, unique, self-aware, confident, and brave people.
I love to think about SF Day as a village, where the whole community comes together to be part of the work of growing, stretching and learning – and through the trust and joy of being a part of the village, feel brave enough to share their stories, advocate for difference, and teach by example.
There is so much to learn – and so much to share. So let’s get started!
